║ MACROS FOR WORDPERFECT ║
╚════════════════════════╝
WHAT IS A MACRO?
Macros are Speed Keys designed to save keystrokes.
You can put one or a group of commands together
and assign them to one of the keys.
When that key is struck it will carry out (execute)
all the commands you assigned to that key.
√√√ THE F FUNCTION KEYS
The F Function keys are the 12 large keys at the top
of the keyboard.They are numbered F1,F2, F3 to F12.
These 12 F keys are the ones most used for storing
the Macros (Commands). The 12 F-Function keys are also used
in combination with the Shift key, Alt key, and Ctrl key.
The 12 F-Functions key when used alone, and when
combined with the <Shift>, <Alt>, and <Ctrl> keys make a total
of 48 Macro keys.
The F1 to F12 Function keys when used alone make a single
keystroke Macro. When the F Function keys are used in
combination with the <Shift>, <Alt>, and <Ctrl> keys,
they make a two-keystroke Macro.
The <Ctrl+F10> Macro command is a two-keystroke Macro.
WordPerfect uses all of these 48 Macros for special functions.
The Macros that we'll create all use the <Alt> key plus
a letter of the alphabet.
There are many Macros that can be made that do not use
the <F> keys. For example, <Ctrl+V>, the Compose key,
and <Ctrl+Backspace> for deleting a word.
√√√ A MACRO NAMED DAVID
We are now going to create a Macro using the <Alt+D> keys.
This <Alt+D> Macro will be assigned the name David.
David is a file that is on your disk.
▀ Each time you use the <Alt+D> Macro, it will retrieve
the David file from the directory of Your disk and
display it on the screen.
You now can work with this file and make any changes,
then save it for future use.

(If D does not work try another key, like A or S).
▀ Release both keys.
▀ No need to press <Enter> key.
▀ The word "Description" appears, you type "David's Macro".
and press the <Enter> key.
This is to help identify your Macros at a later date.

the commands that will retrieve the David file.
The retrieve command is <Shift+F10>.

and appears on the screen.

√√√ A MACRO FOR YOUR ADDRESS
▀ You'll now make a Macro for your name and address
that uses only two keystrokes, in place of the usual
40 or 50 keystrokes.
√√√ HOW TO CREATE A MACRO FOR YOUR ADDRESS
▀ First press down, and hold the <Ctrl> key,
then press <F10> key.
▀ When you see the words "Macro Define" on screen
▀ You type Name of Macro as <Alt+L>, press <Enter> key.
▀ For description of Macro, type " For Letters" press <Enter>.
▀ The screen now shows the words "Define Macro"
This means what do you want the Macro to do.
You want it to store your name and address on a key,
so that you can retrieve this information by pressing that key.
To do this type your address, like this:

√√√ USE KEYPAD FOR FOREIGN WORDS
Many languages use some kind of accent markings
on letters of a word.
These markings called diacriticals (di-a-krit'ic-als)
change the way a word is pronounced.
For example, when you add the accent marks to the word
resume (to begin again) both its meaning and pronunciation
are changed.
The word changes to Résumé (rez'u may..French).. meaning
a summary of your experience.
Many of these foreign diacriticals can be found on the little
Keypad located on the right side of your keyboard.
The markings are formed by pressing and holding down the
Alt key, and typing the proper code number.. when you
release the Alt key ..the character appears on the screen.
√√√ HOW IT IS DONE
Example: The Señora and her daughter Niña like
Häagen Dazs ice cream.
The Se <Alt+164> ora and her daughter Niña like
H <Alt+132 agen Dazs ice cream.
√√√ SOME KEYPAD CODES FOR AMERICAN USED "FOREIGN WORDS"
▀ Rosé wine <Alt-130> é
▀ Crêpes suzettes <Alt-136> ê
